Chameleon
39. Chameleon. This animal has a size of 23 to 51 cm, depending on the species. Its ability to change its color is spectacular. Some other animals (some fish, amphibians, reptiles and crustaceans) can do it too, but need for this some minutes or even some hours. But the chameleon can change its color in some seconds or even milliseconds. He does this for 2 reasons. First, it can adapt to its environment, so it is less likely to be spotted by predators. But it can also adopt striking colors to be seen by its peers. It only does this for a few seconds, to prevent to be seen by predators at the same time.
