37. Cheetahs. These are the fastest animals over land. Opinions are divided about their top speed. Some believe that they are not faster than 100 km per hour. Others talk about a speed of 130 km per hour. Of course the age of the animals plays a big role. And they can't maintain their top speed for a long time either. And that is no wonder, because the sprint requires an enormous amount of energy. A single observation is therefore not very reliable. In any case, they are fabulously fast. Only some birds are even faster. And maybe some fishes. It is said that the peregrine falcon can reach a speed of 389 km per hour when diving, and that the sailfish in the water can reach a speed of 130 km per hour.
